After all, at the end of the day playing video games is a hobby, and hobby’s cost money.Part of what will make the experience great to play with PC Game Pass will be the achievements you can earn to boost your Gamerscore. There are many companies that I feel nickle and dime customers with nonesense, generally free to play games do this and it’s gross, but when a company making a AAA game such as Warhammer, Civilization, Stellaris, or the like do it I don’t think of it as shilling for money any more than most any video game that wants you to pay money to play it shills for money. As a goodwill gesture, given how hotly folks like to complain about nickle and dime mtx, they could have put it out for free, but I for one don’t mind paying for DLC if it’s for a game I enjoy, as real people are working on this stuff and those employees garner wages and it costs money to keep them around - they can’t make free content and expect to continue having jobs later.Īnd let’s not forget, this particular DLC (iirc) was free for the second game if you had bought it for the first. Those are still extra man hours being put in, and it’s reasonable to charge for that. That reason doesn’t but consider perhaps knowing they can’t put together a gore/bloody graphics option together at the start of the project, they instead put work into it shortly before or just after launch when vfx teams have more time to work on things. But, again, that doesn’t really justify charging money for said DLC at the end of the day.
